It's actually somewhat warm & nice today! A perfect spring.. er, autumn day :)
Haven't blogged in awhile- we had a good weekend. Got a couple new shirts, which is always exciting. oooh, ahhh. Went with Jenny over to Greg/Megan's house to watch 'em lay sod in the backyard. Sat in the new sod. Found out that the new sprinklers do, indeed, work. Dried off.
Went to a going-away party for a coworker Saturday night. It was a good party, good mix of people, yummy food- she's moving to New York, so there was waaay too much cheesecake! Jim got to meet a lot of my coworkers who he's only heard about. And vice versa.
Sunday morning I attempted to clean up the backyard some from the mess the oleader pruners left. Picked up all the big sticks & stuff on the ground that they missed. Then got my gloves & clippers & my vast gardening knowledge (ha) and went to work on each bush. Tried to pull out the huge piles of leaves stuck in the middle of the bushes.... some of them had been there so long, it had turned into nice dark compost! Then clipped off the deadest looking branches and pulled out huge branches that the guys had cut & let fall into the middle & never retrieved. I was surprised at how many of those there were. Sigh. crappiest landscape guys ever. The poor bushes are so raggedy looking now anyway, Jim couldn't really tell I'd done any work on them ;-P but I could, so that's all that matters. I only got through about a half dozen before I was cold & distracted. Hopefully I can work my way around the whole yard. I took pics of our poor yard to put on my site, but apparently left my camera in jenny's car. whoops. so when i get it back, then i'll put up some pics :)
I got the coolest Christmas gift for Rachel..... :)
Nothing real exciting going on this week. Slow at work right now, obviously! Tomorrow at work is a potluck for another (!) coworker who's leaving. Then Saturday night another party, this time for her. She's very cool & I'm sad she's leaving, but we're neighbors, so I'll still see her around often :) Oh, Arizona folks may have met her at my wedding shower here- it's Bryn- the one with the short blond hair. She's leaving to focus on creative writing & working on getting grants & stuff. she's also going to teach more English, etc, classes at the nearby community college. fun!
OK, hope everyone's having a nice sunny day!
