They're gone already!!

We had an amazing weekend with Jessi & Jerry. I'll try to Cliff's Note it for ya:

-Friday: They visited my office. All duly impressed. While I was working, they wandered downtown, danced with naked statues, had a coffee, had a beer.

-Saturday:
-Neighborhood garage sale. We wandered around. Jessi bought a salad spinner. We got a ladder. and some other stuff I can't remember. And I bought a pair of very tall snake-skin boots for $5 from State Rep. Ken Clark, who apparently lives in my 'hood. Jessi & Jim tried to buy a $12,000 propeller for $15.
    -Breakfast at Katz.
-We had free passes for Desert Botanical Garden. Went thru the butterfly home. Ate some ice cream. More nakedness. Saw plenty of cactuses.
-Went to Fountain Hills to play disc golf. I threw my disc (frisbee-type thing) into the lake 3 times. Chris fished it out twice. Jerry went swimming & spent 15 minutes the third time; he was successful, which was good since it was actually his disc. We were amused. Photos forthcoming. Disc golf was really fun. I'm no good (see above story), but got better. It was kinda hot.
   -Dinner at Honey Bears. Yummm.
-“Arizona Republic“ night at the art museum. Boys said eeeewwww. So Jessi & I got all fancied up (including new boots) and went. It was free & open only to Republic employees. We had fun, tho half the exhibits were blocked off, which was annoying.
-Boys decided to have a poker night. Set up table & stuff outside. We all put in $3 to play. I won the first tournament. Yay! $12 to me! Then 2 of Chris's friends showed up, carrying a big case of chips, etc., and all sorts of talk about how much they play. Down to the wire, I won again. Yay! $18 to me!  Apparently my fuzzy leopard slippers are lucky fuzzy leopard slippers. Then Jessi & I quit playing & went inside & played cribbage. Brody got annoyed that everyone was still up so late, so he came inside, walked directly to the couch, got up & laid down; On top of the cribbage board & Jessi. silly dog. We played around him (after retrieving our cards, etc, from under his belly). Jessi won. Guess I better stick to Texas Hold 'em.

-Sunday
   -Sleeping in late!
   -Donuts at Safeway.
-Drove to Peoria for Seattle Mariner's spring training game. Sat in the lawn. Figured out that's not the best way to watch a spring training game. Sweltered in the 98-degree weather. Thought I was gonna die. Only got a splotch of sun burn. Chris & Jim have all sorts of bizarre sunburn patterns. I didn't watch the game, but Jessi & I had a good chat :-)
-Afterward we went to The Monastary to meet some of Jerry's friends. Hung out inside for a looong time cooling off. There, they just give you a raw hot dog/burger/chicken/steak, and you go out to their big grills & cook it yourself (or have Jim cook it for you, duh). Very cool. Also volleyball courts & giant chess & horseshoes & dogs & a glass blower. We played ping-pong.
-Went home, watched The Simpsons. Went to eat at Filiberto's. Went bowling. I did good- got a 166 & a 140ish. We had fun.

Monday:
  -Woke up eaaaarly. 5:30 a.m.
-Drove to Maricopa, Ariz. It was still dark.
-Stopped at *the* gas station to ask where the train station was. It was across the street. Duh. It's Maricopa. What else is there?
-Unloaded Jessi & Jerry & hugged them goodbye. Awwww. I drove home, and they boarded a train for a 22-hour ride to San Antonio. Hopefully they fell asleep! :)

OK, it was good times.  Now Joe will be here tomorrow for more good times! And Gramma&Vern and Lindy&Carolyn will be here next week, too. Expect even longer blogs...  :-P
