Doggy bloggy

Sooo, Brody's had a bad couple of months. He was feeling ill back then and we ended up taking him to the pet ER. It turned out that he had a urinary tract infection, but the vet also felt a rather ominous lump.

Our dog doc poked and prodded and gave medicine. The urinary tract infection went away, the lump seemed to get smaller. The urinary tract infection came back. Lump still there. More drugs. Infection came back. More drugs. Etc. & so on. After many tests, they referred us to the vet specialists at Oregon State University.

He spent an entire day there Friday being poked, prodded, x-rayed, drugged up, sonogrammed, poked some more. They thought it was an infected prostate. They gave us drugs.

They called on Monday and, horrors, told us it's prostate cancer. And he should undergo dog chemo. So sad, but hopeful that they could cure it because they caught it early & it hadn't spread. And the chemo wouldn't make him lose his fur.

Jim took him back to OSU today to see the cancer docters. They poked, prodded, drugged, sonnogramed again. And they decided - probably- that it's NOT cancer. Maybe. They think it's just a really bad perpetual urinary tract infection. So they sent him home- dopey from drugs- with a bunch of antibiotics and pain pills, and he'll go back in two weeks.

Until then, we wait, force pills down his throat, and grow ulcers worrying about poochy cancer.

I think he'll be all right, tho.
