The proof

From Bicycle ride-...

Today, Jim & I rode a 35-mile loop in Linn County that took us over four covered bridges. Of course we stopped at each one. It was about 80 degrees and blue skies (finally!). The countryside was so gorgeous. It was one of the nicest rides we've done so far.

I put up photos from the ride on Picasa, which is kind of a fun site. You can click on “View Map” to see where each photo was taken. And I even wrote captions and everything. You can see them all in the slideshow. Have fun! Enjoy our spandex!

Really cool. This is my goal. To ride bikes through Vermont in the fall. Oddly, Salem, Oregon looks a lot like Salem, Ohio but there are a lot of those cool yellow farms there - I guess it is just an older part of the country - you know? in the Midwest (I just put that here in case Steve reads this to bug him) Jim, you are looking fantastic.... and Steff your hair is adorable.

Years ago, before Gramma was a Gramma, we saw Oregon covered bridges - someone told her they were covered to keep the fog out - she thought that was a good thing, and couldn't figure out why we were all laughing. . . say, why are the bridges covered?

To protect the bridge joists from weather... At least that's what they are covered for in Ohio.

Our bike book claims it's also because cattle were afraid to cross the uncovered bridges.

That makes sense cuz you don't get the snow there that they do in Ohio. On the squeegee thing from another post there possibly should be a gasket in there you put on the threads to help keep that sealed. If that makes any sense. I love your cherry pickin' pictures. Definitely reminding me of Ohio.

That's awesome. I loved the slide show. Wasn't it hard to take photos while riding? You and Jim look so great!

By the way, how to like Picasa? I have it but haven't had the chance to use it yet.

I've had Picasa for awhile, too, but never used it. But it's pretty cool. And isn't the slideshow great? It's not quite as streamlined as I'd like, but it's pretty close. I like it better than Flickr.
