hola!
had our meeting yesterday for the conference this week. There were a ton of college students there, which is great. Probably about 40 reporters/photographers total. Tho I heard that a lot of them are first-year journalism students, so their stories will probably need a lot of editing...! But there were also a lot of people there who I know from school & hadn't seen since I graduated, so that will be fun to work with them again. a lot of people from the State Press and several who I do work with now because they're doing internships at the Republic.
it was weird coming into the meeting, cuz i had a lot of friends sitting in the audience, but when i walked in, the director said, “oh, stephanie, you sit at the professional table“ up front. it was funny. it was weird sitting with my “new“ peers at the front instead of my “old“ student peers :)
also found out i'm probably going to be posting all the stories online, so learned how to do that last night. always fun learning a new skill! :) if you want to check out what we're doing this week, you can see it here. the real address will probably be apme.azcentral.com, but that's not up yet.
jim & i ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory last night. then kicked ourselves for going to that dumb corporate chain & having crappy food & service instead of going to the wonderful perfect little independent italian restaurant by our house. next time.
