We're in our house, and holy crap, it's been an adventure. But now we've got heat, we've got hot water, we've got functioning plumbing, we've got a water line going to the fridge, and the house no longer is filled with noxious gasses.Quite a feat in just a couple of days. Best of all, we're living here, and all of our stuff is here, and our animals are here, and all is good.
We had great help moving from Jim's sister, Kim, her husband, Danny, and their kids, Bre and Justin. Joe and his friend Luke hauled boxes like it was going out of style. Today our friends Melissa & Adam came by and helped wipe down cabinets at the new place and pick up remaining junk at the old house.
Right now I'm helping Jim set up his office (it's a pretty easy gig on my part), then I'm hopefully going to unpack kitchen stuff. It'll be nice to have one room cleared. The dining room & living room are packed full of boxes. It'll take a while to unearth them.
I haven't explored the neighborhood with Brody yet. He's a little grumpy cuz he hasn't had a walk in a couple of days. And he has to be on a chain when he's outside, because we don't have a fence yet. He's used to waltzing outside and greeting people whenever we open the front door, but now we have to hold his collar & make sure he stays in. The cats are mostly under the bed. They've been locked in the bedroom/bathroom/mega-closet area because 1) the outside doors were open a lot while we were moving and 2) the heating vents don't have any grates on them at the moment. And we know one a kitten would love to crawl down into the ductwork. After the office is put together, we'll get those grates put back on. Mozart wants to get out & explore badly, but Calvin is just hiding under the bed. He's quite a coward for a cat who's usually so brazen.
OK, off to maybe do something productive. Bye!
