Cuckoo's nest

My latest musical obsession is Feist, whom I discovered earlier this year but really started listening to recently when my friend Scott gave me a bunch of her stuff. You can listen to bits of her songs here. My favorites are Mushaboom, Let It Die, and Inside and Out.

There are a bunch of guys at my house downstairs watching football. I don't have any interest in sitting around watching football, but we've got the furniture moved back in- including our cozy new couch- a fire roaring, potato soup on the stove, wind and rain outside, a bizarre selection of microbrews in the fridge and good company. It's worth a few trips downstairs to just sit & enjoy my life. :-)

This weekend:

Fri- Found out one of my friends at work got canned. Yikes. Went out to dinner, went to a concert (Root Villa from Salem, and the freakishly odd Ovo from Italy- see pics & read an interview with the due here). Went to bed early

Sat- Woke up early, went running with the marathon-training clinic. Every Saturday at 7 (showed up early cuz we were under the impression that it started at 6:45. Thankfully we were wrong). Took a nap, then went up to Portland and attended a clinic at the Architectural Heritage Center. It was a class on how to repair old windows, and it was given by a Salem builder (check out how their logo is the exact same window frames we've got!).  I've read a lot about how to fix our windows, and much of the info was the same, but it was nice to see it demonstrated and give us a little more confidence. We've got a lot of windows to fix. The guy said our first one would probably take us a week. So I guess we'll wait until spring to start the window fixin'...

Afterward, we hooked up with Jordan et al, including Christen. Went to a fancy dinner and ate great cheap happy hour food. Jordan's sis ordered a drink that was prepared in like 20 steps at our table and included much fire. Wow. Then we headed over to Voodoo Doughnuts, which was temporarily closed because a couple were getting married there. The guy pronounced them man & wife, and they unlocked the door & we celebrated with donuts. Too weird & great. They have the strangest selection of donuts ever, including ones topped with Froot Loops and ones stuffed with sausages.

Sun- Finally ordered new drawer faces for our 2 kitchen drawers that have been naked since we moved in. Yay! Cleaned, arranged furniture, walked dog, cooked soup, had people over... see top of this post for rest. :-)

I'm reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for book club on Friday, which is at my house because of my proximity to the mental hospital on which the book is based. My walls are just naked scraped up plaster right now, which kind of gives my house that insane mental hospital look, I think.

P.P.S. Did you know "Inside and Out" is a Bee Gees song?

I saw that about the Bee Gees on Amazon. She also does a creepy old folk song that Snakefarm also did. Couch: Green, tall, fluffy.
