last night jim & i got stuck watching stupid ken burns thing on pbs again. we hate that ken burns, always forcing us to stay up late by combining well-done documentaries on fascinating subjects with no commercial breaks to facilitate an escape. last night it was about the westward expansion and how texas was its own country thingy. i guess that's why texans are still so weird and wear “don't mess with texas” t-shirts and stuff. it also showed a lot of stuff on indians & the trail of tears. and the beaver fur trade. and mormon's moving west. and the whitmans getting slaughtered in oregon. fun stuff!
this morning i woke up at about 7:30 to the squeeking sound of garbage truck brakes. remembering that we missed garbage collection last week, i bolted out of bed, tried to quickly get dressed, but brody kept getting in my way, all excited cuz he thought we were taking our walk. finally got dressed, ran outside, ran as best i could with the big garbage can to the curb, then ran over to the neighbor's garbage can, lifted up the lid, and it was empty. grrr! i had missed the truck! but then i snuck across the street & looked in another garbage can, and it was still full! so i wheeled my garbage can across the street & the garbage truck picked it up a few minutes later. whew! :) i went inside to go back to bed, but brody was still excited so we took our walk & it was nice & cool out. then i watered & weeded the flower beds & swept off the walkway that was covered with grass & stuff from the weedeater. also made jim's lunch to take to work, cuz i'm just nice like that.
tonight we're going to some bbq thing one of his clients is hosting. i've never met anyone from that firm, so hopefully it'll be fun. good food, anyway. :)
this weekend we're driving down to tucson for my friend ann's wedding. i work at the paper with her & we both got engaged at about the same time, so this will mark the end of our year-long wedding talks! it's at a resort type place and should be really nice. we're carpooling with another of my coworkers. jim & i have never been to a wedding together, well, other than our own ;-)
